deepfaking was invented and developed by the government. their goal was to create a fake so realistic, no one could possibly tell that it was, in fact, fake. dont believe me? think back to the assange interview debacle. the result was so highly realistic, literally the only tell was the rendering glitches. if it were not for these we all would probably believe he was alive and actually conducted that interview. once they were satisfied with their work, they released it into the wild for all to use. but they were extremely smart in how they did so, one way or another they made sure it was used almost exclusively to create deepfake porn. why was this brilliant? lets think, you have this extremely powerful and advanced technology, and it ends up being used exclusively for... porn. what better way to popularize and delegitimatize all in one fell swoop? it makes sure that everyone knows about it, and everyone knows what it is capable of. >ok faggot, get to the point ok fine, what JUST supposedly came out now that involves porn and powerful people? yep, the hillary tape. why does this matter? well lets think, regardless if it came out or not, regardless if it is real or not, if something like that were ever to surface be it hillary, podesta, anyone at all, they now have 100% plausible deniability that is actually a deepfake. even if its the realest real tape ever, they have basically created a get out of jail free card because they know all they have to do is run a few "those alt right nazis at 5chin are making fake pornos of powerful people" almost every single person will just take it at face value and accept it no questions asked.
(((they))) have basically pulled a 12th dimensional antigravity chessgammon maneuver and mitigated almost any possible validity and backlash of any leak no matter how real and damning it may actually be.
That's the point. Information overload plus perfect graphics combined with other things like holograms/augmented reality will make it hard to discern truth from fiction. You see this now with media. It's an electronic smokescreen.

Here's a really simple method to detect deepfakes: Error Level Analysis.
Nobody saves lossless video. It's all some form of MPEG-type block/time compression. Deepfakes use a source video, then patch faces over the top. This results in an error mismatch in the encoded data that persists unless you drop the quality to virtually nothing.
By examining the block data density you can determine the "error rate" and figure out which parts of an image have been altered. If such a tool was made and distributed it could be run on a video and provide output in real time to show areas of likely editing.

Doesn't matter because it would be buried faster than Seth rich if a leak were proven to not be faked, it would never even see the light of day on tv let alone "owned" news sites.
