The problem is assymetrical warfare, and that no one today really has the courage to commit to warfare. Even if the greeks "defeat" the turks, they would lose if their economy is destroyed, which is a real possibility in that scenario. Wars of conquest dont really happen that much anymore, too much international pressure unless you are Russia or USA or whatever.
