I smoked weed all day everyday for ten years. I quit about a year ago and I started having dreams at night about five months ago. It's absolutely a drug. I managed to get by while I was a stoner, I graduated college with a high GPA, went to law school for a couple years and started my own business. However, I still look back when I was a drugger and a feeling of disgust washes over me, much like the feeling I get when I think about a lot of the business decisions I made during that time as well as money thrown down the shitter on weed. I would rather shit in my hand and clap than go back to that time in my life. I feel lucky to have gotten where I am in life today compared to the amount of stupid decisions I made while I was a pothead. I would rather be a full blown alcoholic than be a pothead and I've been both. Seriously, weed is called dope for a reason

Of course, it's addictive, I've smoked for 4 years straight and it is one hell of a psychological drug. When I don't have weed I can't eat for days, cannot sleep and wake up in cold sweats. Also, stoners don't dream which is why when you quit smoking weed your dreams become extremely vivid and lucid.

last time I checked years ago, they science was saying that psychedelic drugs can not induce PTSD, but I always felt like that was a kind of semantic obfuscation. I had some bad experiences tripping and it definitely had long term effects, I suffered similar symptoms(anxiety and what I can only assume you mean by derealization) and it seemed to check every box associated with PTSD. For a long time I attributed the condition with those experiences, but ultimately I discovered the real issue was just general depression that was confounded by lifestyle I was living at the time.

I quit all the time, take a few months off then smoke for weeks on end. Then months off. If weed is addictive then so is biting your nails.
