I live in the south of france, and the village which I live in is an isolated spot ten miles from the nearest small town. (village population 300 in the whole commune, 60 in the village itself, town about 10,000 people)

it is no where special, just typical of the region.

There are memorials to french people murdered by the nazis all over the place. tehre is a memorial in the town near here to the 900 young men and 40 young women (not jews) the nazis took as slave labour from the town, 200 of them died. Oradour Sur Glane is about 80 miles from here.

There is no real studies into what effect the allied blockades and desperation to keep the Army fighting had on the supply chains that cared for the internment camp prisoners as far as food and medical treatment. I believe the German system of internment was similar to what we did to the Japanese-Americans here. I do believe there was war crimes committed against civilians too.
