This has been a long standing stereotype I've always come across in life. The stereotype that Poland is a poor nation, full of poor people. Personally, I do not know many poles. So I don't really know for sure if they are poor. The Nazi's in WW2 burned down like 50 "Polish Ghettos" or something. In America, the term Polish Ghetto is often heard in reference to this time period. So, the question is... are Polish people poor?

Ireland is a very unique case in world economy. A VAST, vast amount of its GDP comes from two simple things:
English is the native language and it's not in the UK. This allows it a very unique position to not only be precisely next to the UK, but also in Europe, but also fairly independent of it and also speaking the world language. You can go to Krakow and spend $40/night on a hotel room that's better than your house. Their city centers look better than 95% of cities in the USA and are clean and safe.
