I've noticed that people who deliberately dress in a strange way and enjoy openly talk about shit like kink, comics, cartoons, etc. tend to coalesce around other weirdos who are all below average to ugly. I think if you are unattractive that can free you in a way to live however your weird mind desires. In a way I respect these people for doing whatever they want.
