Ah the imperial plans of great Ukraine. I wonder how much time it has. Now I don't mind having a buffer zone in the east. Belarus is overall better but they too struggle with the past and dependancy on Russia. Both can cease to exist in the future. Hopefully Belarus survives until the next Russian "tsar" so that the real work can begin.

Territories of modern-day Ukraine and Belarus were part of Ruthenia just becouse people on this terriotories spoke ruthenian and consider themselves as rutheniana/russians (as well as on territories of modern-day Russia), only as ruthenian-speaking area of Poland and Lithuania, not as state.
Kievan Rus divided into principalities. Whose population was culturally similar and considered themselves to be part of the same people (Rus').
Which were ruled by one dynasty. The dynasty of the descendants of Rurik (founder of the state) and Vladimir. And only these kingdoms are heirs of Rus', because they directly continue the russian statehood of the Rurikids, and not just russian-speaking territori of Poland-Lithuania.
