So after court decision that instructs Roscomnadzor (a service responsible for internet censorship) to block Telegram many IP addresses (more than 20 million atm) got banned. As those addresses mainly belonged to Google and Amazon it wasn't a surprise many other services got blacklisted and unable to function. This included several banks, airports, retail networks, a number of popular mobile apps and private internet stores.
Finally, this night Google search engine website itself got flagged and became inaccessible in Russia. At the moment it works, but is unstable.
This afternoon Roscomnadzor issued a statement telling they're aware about current situation around Google and blamed the company for ignoring Moscow's court decision. It is notable they sad no word about un-blocking google.com or sorting out this case anyhow.
Meanwhile Pavel Durov (owner of Telegram) called for peaceful protest activity (throwing paper plains which are his service's logo).
One of possible consequences for Jow Forums is Russian flag will probably become R A R E since Google captcha also got effected by this.
My thoughts are it won't finish by this. It seems more realistic than ever that the government wants to set up Cheburashka (exclusively Russian internet). It is especially possible since upcoming inauguration of Putin as he is known to care about these things a lot. It may not be widely known outside, but Alexey Navalny scheduled a wide protest activity for 05.05.18 which is only two days before the event. Some insiders say that Putin was very mad at 6 may 2012 protests and ordered to jail those he believed to be in charge.
So it turns out Google could be the actual target as many people including myself predicted Durov's actions to bypass the ban. We all know YouTube where Russian opposition (incl.Navalny who often is in local trands) works very active is Google's service, so if it gets blocked now there is a good justification.
Don't most russians use yandex? Nevertheless, losing gmail is gonna suck
Logan Jenkins
Well yes most people here perhaps use Yandex and in that turn they also use mail.ru instead of gmail (whose web interface is not available now, don't know for the POP/SMTP though). If worst comes to the worst they can switch to some local video hosting, but the biggest trouble is all media nowadays are moderated/owned by the govt, so internet is the most notable place where you still can find any critical opinions and uncensored info.

2ch.hk (a brother forum/imageboard in Russian) is also down. Admins report it is due to DNS problem but it may also be caused by Roskomnadzor.

Christ I can't believe I'm having to bump this
They're taking away Ruskie internet, this could be one of the few actual last Russians that's not a bot, and guess what you'll be seeing those, and the board is obsessed with slide threads.
(((Google))) gives power over information control to the West, but surely anons can see where not having access to both instances of information, if not at least how to see they're spinning the story, is beneficial? Will the protest get any coverage?
Bentley Allen
It was a mistake on their behalf to do it, now Russian gubmint will shill yandex along it's browser and email.
Evan Rodriguez
actually google works (at least for me) this is all biased

fyi (((Yandex)))

I can't understand people who don't speak fluent English. Please try again.

>2ch.hk It doesn't work for me either tried >isp's dns >google dns >opennic dns >norton dns Nope it's gone for sure. Yandex however flies, it used to be slow for me. I used it occasionally for image search.
Parker Barnes
It works and literally the next moment it stops. Yes at the moment it works but only since I posted the thread it's been down most of the time. I had to use VPN to complete google captcha and than switch it off (cause most VPNs are banned on Jow Forums) when I was creating this thread.
2ch is officially down due to dns problem, though it's not clear what exactly caused them. apparently these issues ain't dirrectly connected but who knows.
Justin Nguyen
Sosach fell down? Jow Forums is not /po/, my friend.
> Don't most russians use yandex Yandex has about 51-53% of the pie. Google about 40%. The rest is Rambler/Mail.ru
it couldn't be connected to Roskomnadzor's actions as 2ch is currently owned by a "Russian" billionaire Usmanov
Jacob Bailey
>all these vanyas git out

rise against the tyranny like the mighty magyar did, dmitrov... it's the only way to get the shekel cücked kike fluffers away from your nation's power leavers
They shouldnt ban the internets, just monitor it and then send every prowestern libtard to gulag.
Colton Brown
lel komunist kacap shit simply is trying to not allow all the intel to be taken by their jewestern friends, cause obviously it has some value. they're portraying that trash 'telegram' as the 'enemy' only to allow it back on later, and just see how the retard hordes jump to use it, give their data to picrelated monkey. pootseen be laffin
Nathaniel Sanchez
good riddance idi nahui
Luke Nelson
What's wrong with that? Russia basically saying fuck you to Google and fuck you to the West, we will use our own internet search engine. Pretty soon Russia will have their own version of internet and maybe even their own version of computers overall, run only on pure clean vodka instead of capitalist western electricity
Ethan Bell
>I'll have to march side-by-side with leftards to defend my internets All this to get a warning from phytoestrogen consuming janny from /v/, who would rather bash me for replying to waifu-roulette than delete countless blacked and WHIIIR threads.
>Surely things like Google being inaccessible will effect local businesses - especially if they deal with businesses in other countries? B-but who cares? Putin is concerned only about his pocket as well as his gang. It maybe the same with politicians all over the world but in Russia there's no chance for Putin to be replaced so he gives no flying fuck about businesses if they're not oil-related
Ryan Bailey
assuming this is all true... does that mean the only russian flags we will see in future will belong to the "putins internet defense force"?
That kinda sucks, I mean we will get some idea of whats going on over there, but it will be biased. Seems like we are entering 1984 territory.
We basically been in Hux's brave new world because we do this shit to our selves, but now its getting tighter.
Kevin Sanchez
>supporting even more government control
Charles Turner
US, Europe and the rest of the civilized world must block Russian government sites like RT. Because fuck those fucking fags.
2ch definitely didn't got blocked since it is not using amazon/google as its hosting/cloud provider to my knowledge yet the problem can be somehow related. Or it may be a coincidence.
>assuming this is all true... does that mean the only russian flags we will see in future will belong to the "putins internet defense force"? Currently google captcha isn't working for me yet I post using VPN to complete it (and switching it off right before posting). But if we have full Cheburashka Jow Forums is likely to be banned with all other external websites. Of course it is not clear if Putin wants to go that far but I honestly see nothing that can prevent him.
>That kinda sucks, I mean we will get some idea of whats going on over there, but it will be biased. That'll be like North Korea for you I guess. tbqh if there's a real move to lock the internet it seems scary as the regeme will be totally out of any control.

Literally noone cares. Fuck off.
Thomas Howard
This is right imo and I'd unironically urge your government to do this and also the major companies such as Google, Microsoft etc to stop offering any services to Russian government or related organization.
If you're in contact with any kind of political activists or are one yourself you may try to start a campaign to somehow respond to this or at least expose this action to the whole world.
Must be nice to have a government that cares for it's citizens
Wyatt Baker
>2ch is currently owned by a "Russian" billionaire Usmanov Wait, what?
Kayden Morales
You shall probably start to care when our economy finally collapses and Putin needs to find someone to blame. Propaganda already works to instigate people towards hating your country, I'd say it's number one to be invaded by Putinist regime
Jose Carter
That's a good thing tho. Close foreign companies and create your own.
Andrew Barnes
I hope it's in the works since companies like Google are all for freedom of speech. Fuck off RT kike go show your kremlin propaganda in Africa.
I hope putin will blame libtards and homos like you and starts sending you to build canal between bajkal and atlantic.
Anthony Hill
Of course he will but than he will send us to invade your country and install communism there like Stalin already did once. But it seems like you're a leftist and Putin supporter as well so perhaps this is your ultimate dream
Robert Cox
>muh communism keep that for braiwashed mutts libtard shill, hope you get raped by chechen

I believe in Russia there will be a war between city and small town proletariat and oligarchs
Nathan Sanchez
Maybe is time for the fags on this site to change the google captcha for another more user friendly.
This site is going to the gutter
Logan Cruz
some our liberals are more right than the official goverment. Navalny was on nationalist rallies.
Logan Cox
Because in Russia both government and "opposition" are really occidentalists. You think Putin doesn't want to have a good opinion in Western Europe? He wants but only he won't back down in certain areas. This is why he distanced himself from Orthoidox Church several times. I wonder if Putin will make some gesture towards LGBT at some point
Joshua Rogers
OP was arrested by KGB for making this thread.

Roskomnadzor hunting for Pavel Durov's Telegram, tell him how good that is.
