Why is NAFTA bad?

Isn’t it just free trade with some immigration rules for business people?

Post one that shows jobs not money.

it's not true free trade. it's highly managed trade with a "free trade" logo slapped on it.

I seem to recall some subclause that lets literally anybody in mexico hop on a plane with no questions asked and fly to canada and stay as long as they want.
They would then just walk across our northern border.
This is an issue.

Free trade between first and third world countries bring wages to an equalibrium, meaning US wages go down and Mexican wages go up. It's essentially welfare.

This wouldn't be bad per se if the dollar wasn't as inflated as a Southern Negro on Thanksgiving

Do you want Mexican standards of life?

if i could reach Canada that easly why the fuck should i even want to go to USA lol.

Our economic woes are due to undercut wages by flooding the market with illegals, immigrants and by devaluing the dollar. These free trade agreements only exacerbate the problems, re-negotiating them won't fix the problems outright but would kick the can down the road

All of you seem to not get capitalism. Capitalism means competition. NAFTA is competition.

NAFTA makes it easier for megacorps to fuck foreigners over. To increase competition you'd need to free up the markets themselves, not just introduce a foreign element

Why do you WANT to compete with shitskins over who can live off of the lowest wage?

for mah jerb

It would be like combining with Poland bro

NAFTA means that manufacturing companies in America compete on a level playing field with manufacturing companies in Canada and Mexico. It makes products generally cheaper for everyone. The idea that “jobs are shipped overseas” is ridiculous in a modern globalist exporting economy. If you lads want protectionist socialism, fine, but then don’t complain that people’s wealth is going down and jobs are actually drying up.

>“jobs are shipped overseas”
Don't put words in my mouth. That "level playing field" you're talking about just makes it easier for the companies to sell and set up shop across the border. It doesn't take into account taxes/tariffs or local small businesses

>US get a net of 9 billion in trade with Canada and 59 billion with Mexico
Fucking syrup niggers!

This sort of economic theory depends on some mythical idea of fair equilibrium that doesn't exist and never will
You can't compete with an overpopulated nest of ants without self respect or labor laws, which is exactly what unrestricted trade with China and Latin America entails
It's such a farce since it's the bourgeois liberals who claim to support unions and workers' rights that also support mass immigration and trade deals that have rendered the former meaningless in America. Unions won't do shit for you if you can't find employment anyway. And free/subsidized school means those immigrants and their numerous children will compete in higher tiers of work as well, not just cheap manual labor.

There's nothing wrong with labor shortages. It's the market's way of incentivizing higher wages and benefits. It's how the American middle class formed, what the boomers benefited so much from. Then they went on to kill it to pay for their SS and pensions at the behest of banks who want more debtors.

I watched Flint, Michigan go from booming to an empty shell of a city because of NAFTA

Net trade deficits are good for a country which has full employment. You get to consume more goods than you produce yourself, so your wealth goes up and you pay the foreigners with worthless paper “money”.

We attempted to have self respect and labor laws but the US strongly refused.
