That´s the main reason soc dems have lost their support although they increase in alcohol tax was originally the plan of the Reform party when they were leading the last government. All the four main parties are responsible for the increase in alcohol prices but since the soc dems have a rep for anti-alcohol policies they got shafted. I don´t know of any other country where the people are as retarded to think that the price of alcohol is the most important thing in managing a country. Barely anyone gives a fuck about a declining population, stagnant economy or lack of funding for research and education. But when some brain-dead bydlo drives to Latvia from Tallinn to buy cheap alcohol, then that´s the most important issue in the media. For fuck's sake, can´t we just take our heads out of our asses and see that there is more to life than getting shitfaced every weekend.

The price of fuel isn´t exactly low either so you´d have to pack your car full of alcohol. You´d have to buy a couple hundred euros worth of booze to really make it worthwhile because you´re not going to drive a whole day to save 50 euros. Besides most people start drinking more alcohol when they giant reserves of alcohol at home and don´t have to go to the store.

I live in Vermont (the whitest state in america) but I really don't have an emotional connection to the US or the white people where I live.
