Smartest thing Obama did was to block Keystone XL since our own governments are too stupid to realize we need to produce for the economy, at least in the shorter term.
If our politicians were real visionaries, they'd have built pipelines across the country and refining so we didn't sell oil at a discount. They'd have built NG liquification plants and have been exporting before America did.

Not for long. I live in nice suburbs 40km out of Montreal, and the 4 cities around me are all full, literally. Since the start of the year, each of them has now sold off every single parcel of land that was marked for residential. Including their municipal garages that they're all moving to their industrial sectors. All that's left for them now is to buy out people's large detached houses on very large yards, the ones that are 60+ years old to build condo towers on.

So now that availability of new construction is essentially capped out, prepare for prices to start rocketing up like mad.

it gets worse when you think about what they take back from working poor here. If you're on welfare and you get a job they take half back, with the costs of working (lunches, transportation, medical, equipment, etc) your compensation for working is diminished so much that you're getting paid 2 dollars an hour to break your back. thus incentivizing undeclared income or not working at all.

So the government is ON TOP of poor citizens gaming the benefits system but not migrants getting far in excess of what they need.
