Anyway, the EU is predicated on regionalism. Smaller countries working together closely - Nordic states, Baltic States, Benelux, Visegrad etc - in most sectors to balance the bigger ones. Serbia was going to join anyway once they meet the criteria, and this will only be a boon to the region when they do. Or bad, if you want to see it that way, but that'd be silly.
