Venezuela had one of the largest industrial complexes in latin america it's just that the government expropiated almost all of them and turned them into shell companies that produce nothing so they can launder drug money (The first lady's nephews where caught in Miami transporting 2 tons of cocaine look it up). The city I lived in was one of the most industrialized cities in the country, and the last time I was at the industrial sector near the local airport of Valencia it was completly desertic, kinda like a post apocaliptic environment. Because the goverment took away guns from people. I myself had a nine mm handgun for prottection. There was once a time where a dictator made Venezuela into a super power. His name was Marcos Perez Jimenez. HE modernized the country, buit roads using prisoners as a workforce and made the economy so great that our currency at that time(1965-1967) was at the same level as the dollar. He also planned to invade Guyana witch was a part of Venezuela but the brits stole it from us. Under his rule he reduced poverty in half and Venezuela even appeared in the new york times magazine.
