American govt is divided into 3 parts: executive, legislative, and judicial. Executive is the president. Currently, Donald J Trump is the commander in chief of the army. Legislative branch is made up of 535 representatives and senators. Their job is to propose and pass laws. (And "budgets") The judicial branch is made up the courts, highest of which is the supreme court. This court of 9 supreme court justices interprets existing laws. Each branch has powers over each other, to keep from one branch from becoming too powerful, but that involves more typing for me.

So to answer your question, the courts interpret laws.
