Actually one year the Feds would cut off the Colorado River for Southern California by building a huge dam and fenced border. The most of the state of California would have to rely on desalinization because the northern Californians would use all of the water from the sierras and hep hetchy

Majority of it's agricultural water comes from Utah and Colorado; Colorado may play ball as a fellow leftist traveler, but Utah really wants payment. More than that, hydroponic farming has eliminated the need for California altogether - any state (even Alaska) can now grow all the food locally they imported.

Next, there's no standing army. If California is allowed to leave (doubt it), then all the right-wing folks would leave or fight for independence. When the dust settles, and if, IF, the left actually wins their civil skirmishes there is not enough of them capable of being a standing military for the leftist nation. Invasion on the US mainland would be imminent and brutal.

Their money would not be valuable. What would California produce? Software? How would copyright be enforced without a standing army or even effective law enforcement? Marijuana? They'd be attacked as part of the drug war. Faggotry? Become the world's largest homosexual whorehouse. The place would collapse of diseases and famine within a year.

And the Democrats would lose 55 electoral votes. Their only option would be to emigrate to the independent nation of California as no Democrat could win the presidency again. A few local elections, maybe, but nothing greater than that; not how they are today - seditious radicals and psychopaths.

And if secession fails in Congress or State ballots, and they secede anyway - civil war. Left would lose handedly.
