And one more thing. As already stated what was delivered from Britain and France did not necessarily arrive a) in time and b) at all. Practically all aid to Finland had to be shipped first to Norwegian ports and transported from there via Sweden to Finland. This always took time. Some airplanes could be flown from Britain or France over Scandinavia to Finland but many others had to be shipped to Sweden were they were put together in Swedish factories and then flown to Finland (all Brewsters for example). Italian Fiat planes got stuck when Germany refused transit. But all these planes eventually reached Finland and were used not in winter war but in continuation war. The same applied to lot of other equipment as well and again as stated earlier many ships full of weapons to Finland were seized by Germans in Norwegian ports in April 1940. Equipment had been delivered but never reached Finland. Germany later on made good of the losses. The only help that came in time and reached the front in any meaningful quantities came from Sweden. French AT weapons and some 1870 model artillery pieces also arrived to fight during the last month of the war.

Majority of German help came after the Winter War (November 1939 - March 1940) was concluded and was used only during the Continuation War (June 1941 -September 1944) when Hitler needed Finish help invading the Soviet Union. During the Winter War, it was in Hitler's best interest to let Finland fall to the commie menace, especially considering the large quantities of materials imported from the USSR to Germany. Hitler simply was a political opportunist.
Of course, Poland should ally with Germany in 1939. We would avoid the Katyn massacre, Intelligenzaktion, expulsion of Poles from Greater Poland, Upper Silesia, Pomerelia and the East and a shit-ton of other atrocities committed both by Soviets and the Third Reich. We have the luxury of speaking from a hindsight though. In 1939 both Germany and the Soviet Union were international pariahs who disregarded international treaties when it was convenient to them. After, Czechoslovakia ceased to exist there was no going back. Too many people started to think that even if we cave in to German demands we would be annexed later on anyway.

I must admit that I do not know whether Hitler was a political opportunist or not. I do know that Germany were in a bitter and dangerous situation, with the challenges to rearmament as well as the Soviet Union. The actions taken are fully consistent with defensive actions and actions hostile towards the Soviet Union. But as far as I can see at the moment, they are not as such inconsistent with political opportunism and conquest. I know there are a lot of extremely false and manipulative propaganda against Germany and the Axis in WW2 and what they wanted, however. "Generalplan Ost" seems like utter nonsense from what I recall from looking into it. But I have difficulty arguing against your claims and arguments regarding Hitler's political opportunism, though I am not as such convinced the claims and arguments are right either. But there was also the Russian Liberation Army and other volunteer armies. How well the RLA worked I do not recall or know, I recall vaguely that it did not work well. And there is this document (rand.org/content/dam/rand/pubs/reports/2005/R2772.pdf) which describes some of the (arguably/likely very poor) decisions and choices Germany made regarding occupation in Eastern Europe. I do not know if that document can be trusted, or how much of it can be trusted, but it does describe a mess as well as incompetence on the side of the German occupation forces.
