Yeah, but we were promised raises, thats why we complain. Not to mention we haven't received update classroom nessecities. 15 year old economics book for example, we need updated books at least. What we currently are asking for is to raise funding at least the levels of education funding we had a few years ago. Its not asking for much because even that was pretty below national averages but still substantial compared to what we have now.

other point is, the quality of education your state gets is directly related to how much you put into it. We are below puerto rico(last time i checked) in terms of how smart our kids are ending up. After the new standardized tests were instated in 2015, the scores went down and funding was cut as a direct result.

i would hope they think about their higher performing students. most, if not all of the top of my graduating class are right leaning to some degree. Myself included.

I'm from Vermont and the average salary of a South Burlington teacher is 73k, which is more than double the salary of the average tax payer, and yet they still whine.

Yet over here I have dated a couple of teachers that made less than 2k a month, work around 12 hours a day, come on weekends, and have to work just about all year, yet they don't protest and chimp out. They know what they got into and did it because they are passionate about it.
My dad was a principle all throughout my childhood and I constantly got to see and hear how dramatic teachers are. Most aren't even worth the wages you pay them and you can't fire them after so long. Its not even difficult to be a teacher. Anyone can do it.

Apparently they had a vote where 70% of the teachers said they would stage a walkout due to adequate pay. Superintendent said that there's no school on thursday, and Arizona is a right to work state, so refusing to work is grounds for termination. My mother is a teacher and finds it extremely distasteful the methods, but not necessary the demands of teachers. It inconveniences a lot of parents who work, and also makes teachers feel uneasy about their employment.

I went to school in Arizona. public school teachers here don't deserve a fucking DIME more. Maybe things have changed since I was in high school 15 years ago.

.....But since we're still almost last in education, probably not.

I went to my mom's workplace before to help with unboxing at the start of the year, the classrooms are cinderblock, no windows, and lit with just fluorescent lights. Charter schools have full wall windows, bigger classrooms, and more equipment, they just don't offer the same benefits and salaries to educators.

In business we produce income statements and balance sheets and we analyze how much money we are making and how we are making our money. We know how to negotiate and how to look at alternatives and creative options. At regularly scheduled times in the business cycle, we decide to adjust our business model in order to get the best option available for us. We don’t complain.
If you aren’t making enough money, do something else. Know who you are negotiating with. you probably shouldn’t be offering them net 2190 terms (6 years). Sorry you went to public school so you don’t know these things.

AZ has some of the lowest pay for public workers in the nation, and they wonder why they get shitty teachers and cops that shoot crying guys crawling on their crossed ankles.

You get what you pay for, and they're paying absolute shit, but that's a result of the taxpayers wanting to pay jack shit.

This is 100% true. Public sectors (teachers, police, fire, etc) are all promised scheduled raises bases on years of service, but in most places in AZ the raises never come. You just stay making what you're making, even if new hires are offered a higher amount based on inflation.

Unions can't do much because muh right to work. It's complete bullshit and there needs to be a complete state government shutdown.
