Jim Morrison ruled and as good as Ray was The Doors were terrible after Jim died for the couple of years they tried to continue, they needed Jim to be as good as they were.

Zappa was a smart man and had good views on politics and society in general, musically though he was only good for a few albums mostly in the 70s before loads of albums were just annoying avant garde type spam or bad attempts at being funny. Joe's Garage is still solid though.

I had a huge Zappa phase user, I used to listen to his 'weird' stuff non stop, it gets old. Jazz from hell for example has one good piece of music ( St Etienne) and every other track midi spam music. "Porn Wars" era and so on is trash as well, no one listens to any of that outside of their 'holds up spork' phase.

Mothers of invention was alright in comparison to the other stuff I mentioned, still nothing on 'Hot Rats' era though, that was Zappa's magnum opus.
