Is Scandinavia a modern socialist's utopia, or a free market success story? It seems that both the left and the right have problems coming to an agreement on this. Many far leftists say they are capitalist pigs no different than the U.S, or that it's "capitalism with roses on top", but most left-wingers say it is an amazing example of Democratic Socialism/Social Democracy, in which they take the best elements and values of socialism, the equality, humanitarianism and a strong welfare state and mix it into a capitalistic, mixed economy, which many left wingers are now considering to be a "New Socialism" "Democratic Socialism" even though it is technically Social Democracy, and not really "socialism" by the standard of label gate-keepers and hardline leftists. Some right wingers will even say that Scandinavia isn't an example of a left wing success story, but actually a right wing success story; since they still have many capitalist tendencies.
What do you guys think? Are our friends in Scandinavia socialist? Capitalist? A mix between both? If so, which do they lean and why do you think so?

I feel as though if has to do more with their policies than their demographics. Remember, they are taking in refugees more than any other EU country, especially Sweden.
If whiteness is really the key here, than why is Poland not even close to the success of Scandinavia?

Homogeneous in culture and race. Policies are affected by the demographics of a country (see the political mess that is the US) Poland was held back by the Soviet Union. Hell all of Eastern Europe was held back by communism. Now they are all poor and losing all their labour to the west (which is largely homogeneous but this is beginning to change and comprises of mixed economies) Refugees don't make up that much of Sweden.

The Nordic states are mixed economies exactly like everywhere else in the West.
The US gov't consumed 40% of GDP annually. In Sweden it's 42%. Wow, what a distinction.
Like everywhere, they have a mix of free markets and statist policy, some things are better and some worse. In the US we have lower taxes and redistribution of wealth, but higher regulatory burden. In Sweden businesses are less regulated and therefore easier to own and operate, but they take more of your earnings for gibs.

this is true, thing is that its very hard to get "educated", or otherwise people high on the social and economic ladder to sacrifice their wealth for a ethnic Swedish state or i guess "clan". We will essentially turn into a small U.S.A but not as "attractive".

I'm Danish and hate socialism with a passion. I don't want to pay high taxes for shit I don't use. If I get sick I would rather go in debt for my own hospital bills rather than struggling to get ahead because of high taxes. The welfare state is doomed anyway. Your society is attractive to people who want to do nothing. Even the native population has grown complacent compared to their ancestors, but they at least understand that the socialist things you do have are safety nets not to be abused, generally speaking. Denmark is rated higher in "Economical freedom" than the US. Makes sense since you have socialist policies like "minimum wages" and other such crap. In Denmark you can fire people for no other reason than you dont like them and you only have to pay them the wage they can negotiate. The social aspects of Denmark comes from our insane high taxes which are a result of a homogeneous tribal culture where we consider Denmark to be one big family. And you always help family burger. So all in all the north is very capitalist with high taxes and more trust in government/state.
