Bands are getting better now that it's spring-summer. Had a lovely QSO Perm, Russia on Saturday with only 100 Watts and G5RV too close to the ground for proper propagation.

Get your General! Make sure you can pass Tech but take your General for free right after and get that. Tech REALLY limits your opportunities.

Got a radio/radios in mind?

Geed evening fellow hamfag
i had to switch over for the local severe weather so i've been unplugged for a few hours.

You Skywarn?

That looks like a fast aircraft. Does it hold bombs or cameras?

>You Skywarn?
yes, been spotting longer than i can drive, you?

that is Russia's supersonic Tu-160 bomber

i'm a broke student so after I get certified I will try to just hang around the local club and wait for a deal. I'm more interested in just listening than talking. I'd like to build a one of those long wire shortwave deals so you can listen to shit from far away.

i may play with those RTL software defined dongles.

Redpill me on why I need to learn about ham radio, in terms of getting into it etc

Man, I need to take my tech.

Nice to see you gentleman.

Yup. Skywarn and ARES. Getting RACES in September.
You'll probably get a good deal from an Elmer.

Anyone have a good design for a 6 Meter EME Yagi?

Just the file name.

yeah, i run a LMR shop and some of the stuff i see come into the shop for repair i'm just amazed.
i regret it now, but about 10 years ago i was talked into helping a local security service set a ROHN 30', no problem until i got there and this idiot wanted to set it into a hole and tamp it in and attach a stand-off bracket to his house.
the whole situation was a runaway but somehow the tower still stands!

Anyone work HF out of an apartment in a tower in a big city? Getting my general after playing withg my tech for a while and looking for tips/experience doing that

Can you use it on analog as well?
I have so far not bought a single digital TX
I wait with it until the HAM radio digital standard is unified.

We have an active NXDN repeater and a DMR. Yes it can also do analog with CTCSS.

Good its fit for analog.
The problem here in Germany is that HAM-Radio is like a dying hobby. Newer generations don't seem to be very interested in this and the remaining few operators got fractioned up by the various didgtal codecs that each brand implemented incompatible to the other brands in the hope of being the one who wins the market finally.
But this led as said to a fractioning. HAM-Radio has been pretty dead here since this digital stuff came into play.

You retards are pathetically stupid.
Do you even know what encryption is?
Do you expect to find anything on open radio other than local police shit?

sometimes that's encrypted to.
