In fact, I agree with you, being satisfied and content with ourselves is very dangerous. It can lead to stagnation and, as you said, laziness.
We should always thrive to improve and evolve ourselves. Loving and valuing our-self is a great start to achieve that.
I'm not talking about being narcissistic or self-idolatry. I'm talking about self esteem and always aiming higher and bigger. People are controlled about their own perception of themselves and don't see themselves as they should. The idea of 'self love' is surely a solution to that.
