What do you think of the pastors Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyer? What has been going on with them, lately, any political things? Also, very important, what do you think of their approach to Christianity? What are the good and bad things about the way they preach, and the things that have caught the media's attention? Have you ever watched their TV programs, heard their radio show, or even seen them live?
Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyer
I don't even think of those types as "Christian." I think they use Christian symbolism to sell a more generic self-help ideology that is largely indistinguishable from other "motivational speakers".
Preachers of a feel good gospel that allows people to live however they want and do what they want without having to make a real commitment to God, all while sitting in "church" and pretending to be holy.
Fuck him!
Why exactly? I just want to know what he did.
What do you believe a Christian should be doing, instead? Most Christians all throughout the West live particularly comfortable lives, even when we may complain about things. Christianity is much more difficult a lifestyle in oppressive China, and Islamic countries, for example. How should American and European Christians live?
My mother donates money to Joycce Meyer and DVRs her shit, doesn’t even watch it. My parents thinks they no longer have to go to church. I invited them to go to church this past Sunday and she declined
>user, church is a state of mind. I watch Joyce on my iPad. Dad and I are going to see Avengers.
Too popular and too rich to be anything but false prophets.
Jesus told the rich man to sell all of his things and follow him. Which the wealthy man refused to do. Point being you either value Jesus above all. You can’t serve two masters. I am not by any means saying I know all things bible or Christian. I do know enough to realize this man is a pos and teaches roses and happiness. The Bible also talks about watching out for false teachings that tickle the ears but leads to hell or something like that.
In one way your mum is correct:
"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
...but it sounds like she's deluded from what you've written.
I'll pray for her user.
joel osteen is going to end up in hell
Every time I hear his voice I feel like I am being raped spiritually
>Osteen preaches that God wants you to be rich and will reward you with wealth
>Jesus teaches that things will get harder for you if you follow Him
hmmmmmmmmmm really makes me think hmmmmmmmmmmmm
Hucksters and charlatans pushing globalism and zionism
Meh they’re not evil in the sense that they’re liberals trying to get my kids raped
They’re just making money and helping low iq feel loved
The second they say fuck drumpf then they’ll be gassed but they really don’t bother me at all. They’re probably good rich people
Mo money, mo problems.
True, if there was any gathering. But for her, godly duty is simply giving money away. She’s not alone, most of the people who follow these tele-evangelicals pay their Christian club dues and thinks that’s all there is to it.
Austen and Meyer have a one way ticket to hell.
this
Don't give up on her! Lots of people initially come to Christ with either the open or hidden motivation of getting their ticket punched so they can "go to heaven". The will know in their hearts there's more to it. All we can do is introduce people to the Gospel - the Holy Spirit works to transform them after that. Get her to read 2nd Timothy - lots about false teachers in there.
Its a shame people are scammed by the likes of Osteen and Meyer, but if its not them it will be another preying on the vulnerable.
They might be "good" rich people, but I truly wonder if they are truly Christians, if they practice the way they preach to their audiences, which doesn't seem to entail all of the Gospel, but just material that sounds good enough to be broadcast on television and radio. At this point, I think most or all of the genuine pastors, delivering potentially offensive-but-righteous sermons, are off the television channels. Radio is probably where one might still encounter sound theology getting taught to listeners, rather than emphasizing too much on everything that sounds good about Christianity, with little or no focus on convictions and sins.
I they are evil even if they don't realise it. I think they preach a doctrine of demons. They are scorpions.
He wants Christians to whip themselves after every sin
I wonder, as a practicing (most of the time, I hope, even if I sin lustfully, sometimes) Christian, what it must feel like from their perspective on things? Do they really believe everything they are supposed to about the Bible, yet purposefully leave out very important knowledge from their TV and radio crowds?
If they preached what was in the bible then they wouldn't make a profit. Do they realise that? I couldn't say.
>How should American and European Christians live?
Go to work, do your job, provide for your family, provide for your community, bear your daily crosses without complaint, and live a life free of degeneracy.
I think they're fine, Jesus died so we don't have to live under the law of Moses to put yourself under law you're saying the sacrifice Jesus made was worthless , not that there isn't natural consequences of sin, like sleeping around will ages yield aids age you horribly and get you into and early grave , being gay will make your ass fall out and result in a very early grave , we have all fallen short is you have hated someone you're no different from a murder in terms of vastness of sin
I don't think I could say, either, just speculate. I seriously wonder if they really believe in the stuff they advocate, when it is such an imbalanced approach to Christianity, living as Christ intends for mankind. There is way too much of a focus on getting blessings (or else you may not be faithful enough), in terms of material gains.
They both routinely go entire sermons without mentioning Jesus once, I don't think they genuinely believe in anything
This isn't about strictly adhering to the laws of Moses and the Old Testament, but rather, Christians following the New Testament to the letter. Too often, it seems very popular pastors are afraid to speak correctly, regarding certain issues, whose answers are written in the Holy Bible itself, whereas in the case of pastors such as Osteen and Meyer, the issues are deliberately not addressed in their sermons. I have never once, for example, heard Joel Osteen do a sermon on urging Christians to preach to nonbelievers, just going out of one's way to share with them that they are Christians, and the way of Jesus Christ is the only way to live, or the destination is death through the Lake of Fire. Rather, an Osteen sermon would gloss over the negative sounding things in Christianity, and refer to blessings in prosperity if you believe, rather than outright mentioning the fate of unbelievers. I haven't heard enough from Meyer's sermons, but I don't feel like listening to her sermons.
I certainly recall the lack of Jesus being mentioned, in any substantial way, except to say "in Jesus' name," or a kind of catchphrase similar to that effect.
I only listen to Kenneth Copeland a true man of God
Christianity simply wants it both ways. It wants to arrogate the Jewish Covenant of material prosperity to itself while claiming God was a world-denying ascetic who said the rich wouldnt go to heaven.
Joyce Meyers is my neighbor... what do?
> Joel Osteen
I don't trust anyone who smiles that much
Ask her if she's heard the good news of Jesus Christ.
Is that Covenant you are referring to just the Old Testament?
That's a good way to go about it.
You have a unique opportunity to witness to your neighbor, and perhaps, even influence Joyce Meyer's audience by proxy. Do not withhold the truths of the Gospel, and urge her to fight courageously for it, yes, even those things that sound "bad and unpalatable" for audiences.
Prosperity Doctrine ministers are waaaay more Tony Robbins than Billy Graham.
I don't think much of them at all and when I do, they make me wretch.
I've been up close and personal with that dude in a random, non-church encounter in Ft. Worth. You can feel the slime oozing off of him; he's pure evil.
That guy on the left smile creeps me out, he either wants to fuck kids or steal your grannys money, he gives off bad vibes, i would line him up against a wall and shoot him
I'm so thankful that I can come to Jow Forums and see common sense even when there's none out in the world.
Set up a big sign that lists some compelling scripture references that exclude women from teaching roles.
Come join us over at 8ch /christian/! Info in pic related, God bless!
They should be preaching the entire gospel. Not just cherrypicking the feelgood, emotional stuff. They're Christian motivational speakers, not preachers.
Both of them are heretics that are leading their flocks astray. Their followers should come and join the one, true church.

damn. hit it right on the head.

I don't really believe in religion but I've heard both on tv. They seem to be positive speakers. I have no problem with them. I know some people complain because they make so much money.
Feel good Christianity is cancer.
I was raised on Joyce Meyer and did take away some value from her messages at the time.
I find her very off putting now, though. The plastic surgery, for one, doesn’t jive with someone who puts spirituality first and foremost. I wouldn’t listen to her now.
Not as familiar with Osteen, but he certainly comes across as slimy.
Pretty much this desu.
So tired of "feel good" guilt free, hedonistic Christianity. Osteen doesn't even have a crucifix at his pulpit. His permasmile fills me with rage too.
joel osteen is annointed
his father john was even more so

joyce meyer seems too judgemental to me
Wolf in sheep's clothing.
>Money is bad
Yes we should all aspire to be homeless degenerate bums
I find his constant smiling and positive expression to be disconcerting. Most preachers have a few really serious moments, at least, yet Osteen has this look of fun and games virtually all I've seen him. He also doesn't seem to discuss Hell/Lake of Fire.
Which denomination of Christianity do you consider yourself, anyway? Perhaps Baptist, like me?
I like Joel osteen. He is a good speaker and most of his preaching is just good life advice that has a Christian vibe to it but could be used even by atheists. I also like how a lot of atheists always try to slander him and make him look bad which really just makes them look shitty.
Freemasons and New Age pushers. ALL the mega churches are owned and controlled by Freemasons aka Jesuits.
F.R.A.U.D.S.
You bring up an interesting point about Joel: that Osteen's ministry is mostly adaptable for Atheists. I am of the mind that if he represented more of the Gospel, it wouldn't be the case. That is why I think Osteen is compromised.
Joyce is ok sometimes. She actually tends to preach the "whole council" of the word rather than just parts of it. Joel Osteen only focuses on the good parts of Christianity. Which most people need to hear nowadays. There is nothing wrong with that but people also need to learn about sin. It's important to learn everything in God's word. The easy and difficult parts.
This.
I agree. People need to learn about sin and repentance. Joel never speaks on it or it's consequences. Also, I've been to a live service and he broke down in tears. I suspect that happens more than they show on t.v. Maybe he's just misguided. With there being good people in bad religions and bad people in good religions...who am I to judge.
What do people here think of Pat Robertson?
The love of money is bad. Had a friend who used to iron all his paper money. Dude was truly out of it. He would ruin you if their was something to be gained.
While Christians don't really judge, as God is left in charge of that, we do have the ability to rebuke other Christians for something particularly troublesome to their faith, for their own good.

Matthew 18:
15“If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother. 16“But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that BY THE MOUTH OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES EVERY FACT MAY BE CONFIRMED. 17“If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. 18“Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.
19“Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. 20“For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”
Yes, the love of money is very worrisome. It's easy to become attached to it for so many people, though, and other forms of material gains. Christians should strive to be unworldly as much as possible, but, Human nature is sinful, and God will forgive us, yet we should still try to live according to Christ's examples.
>((Osteen)) and ((Meyer))
They're actually not Jewish, but some kind of Germanic origins, I suppose.
Women can't teach the gospel. Any female priest or pastor is a self-serving heretic working for Satan and polluting the church.
Men must teach men. Women can teach other women and children. But never men. Anybody who rejects this basic doctrine is rejecting Jesus.
That really is in the scriptures. I don’t understand why that is being ignored so much, now. Has Joyce Meyer ever said anything about THAT?
You guys make happy to know that true Christians, fully aware of false prophets and deceivers, are here fighting evil.. Love ya guys..
Exact same Gospel of Wealth that the Pharisees held so dear.
What, same name, or a parody of Meyer?
hey are prosperity doctrine.
They dangle the carrot of hope in front of the flock...
And if we are obedient with our tithes and giftings - and get expert advice by purchasing their books/tapes/merch -
We too will be rewarded.
To cut to the chase: it's a doctrine based in fear that promises windfall at any moment.
It’s interestingly similar to that, but at the same time, Prosperity Gospel people will often tell you not to say anything judgmental or potentially offensive, even if it is backed by the New Testament.
Scripture please
They can teach, but that guy’s passage really just refers to men being the pastors of the church, from my understanding.
this cheers me. checking it out now.
>female pastor
The bible directly says not to have female pastors or leaders.
that bitch looks like a demon
Based
>tfw no more flags
These two... sigh
Con artists tricking gullible people who never read the bible with feel good nonsense.
Aslo this
I should mention the ONLY decent TV pastors are Arnold Murray and his son Dennis. I highly recommend watching Shepherd's Chapel to anyone who wants to understand the bible better.
It's like worshipping the statues in a wax museum.
Why do Americans look like this?
Plastic surgery.
>Joel Osteen
satanist, 10/10, no doubt
Why do you say that? He doesn't seem to be, by any credible means. I do believe that he and his people are misled about a number of things, concerning scriptural accuracy, and his miscommunication to audiences.
I've felt that way plenty of times.
Most tv preachers are fakes
joel is a master of neuro-linguistic programming. im not religious but i sometimes watch him on sunday mornings with my coffee. the way he speaks is almost like listening to music.
Evangelicals are all doomed to hell so don’t listen to them
How do you justify your statement?
These heretical churches don't worship Christianity, they worship sodomy and satanism dressed up in rainbow flags. If you burned a gay flag in front of them you bet they would fucking go ballistic, while the destruction of a church doesn't even phases them.
