You occasionally hear protests from either Democrats or Republicans that a certain issue has no business being debated over by Congress or the Executive branch, however they choose to handle the scenario anyway. Arguments like this is a protest against authority.

When someone protests the authority of the supreme Court, it's not the authority they criticize but only the position the court took in one scenario.

When one man has unlimited governing power, that's a dictatorship. When it's given to nine people, that's a court.

To think, Thomas Jefferson wrote extensively on how the Supreme Court was the unchecked power within our government which worried him most. James Madison and Alexander DeTocqueville wrote similar things too.
