The modern IDF doesn't have the morale pr the will to do a proper invasion. If they try anything crazy they might as well lost part of the Golan.

>Israel–Syria relations refers to bilateral ties between Israel and Syria. The two countries have since the establishment of the State of Israel been in a state of war. The countries have fought three major wars, which are the 1948 Arab Israeli War in 1948, the Six-Day War in 1967, and the Yom Kippur War in 1973, later also being involved in the Lebanese Civil War and the 1982 Lebanon War, as well as the War of Attrition. At other times armistice arrangements have been in place. Efforts have been made from time to time to achieve peace between the neighbouring states, without success.
It makes no sense at it because the SAA is already at the halfway mark of the buffer zone. They also have to contend to avoid getting accidentally wasted by Russians or curb stomped by Hezbollah up north because such an invasion basically guarantees a war in Lebanon.
The IDF will most likely do arty/airstrikes when the Rebels start losing, but anything else just warrants them getting thrown into a bigger mess.

if they really wanted this piece of land they would have done as turkey a long time ago, that's true. That would have been legal too

I heard the Israelis did considered openly sponsoring the Islamic rebels in the border. Probably wouldn't have worked though, and the moderates never managed to control the whole area anyway.
Evan Roberts
Although I don't see how sponsoring a terror organization in a foreign country would be legal.

I wonder how many people on /sg/ know some basic history and that we already had this piece of land and returned it.
>The Syrian enclave is an area that the IDF captured from Syria during the Yom Kippur War and held until the implementation of the separation of forces agreement between Israel and Syria, about eight months after the end of the war. 400 square kilometers. It included many Syrian villages, volcanoes and the peak of Mount Hermon. The edge of the enclave was forty kilometers from Damascus. The enclave extended from Beit Jann in the north, through Tel Shams (about one kilometer west of Sasa), to Tel Mar'i (about five kilometers south of Kanakar) and Tel el Mal in the south
We won't take it back, too many Arabs and nothing to gain.

Go home Ami go home split your atom for peace say: "goodbye" to father rhine, don't touch his daughter (=Loreley) as long as you sing, Loreley, Germany will be
(Loreley is a mermaid-like girl from a German fairy tale who sits upon the hill (called Loreley) along the rhine and makes river sailors crash their ships with her singing.)
