Australia has 50 days of emergency fuel left across the country

Prices have been through the roof for the last 2 weeks

Why the hell do the oil companies think this is a good idea?

Current price is around $6 gallon (US) on the cheap cycle

Hey actually this is great. We can invest in electric cars, and free ourselves from the middle east.

SOON

Nice

I just found out it was 50 days left about a month ago and the government expects the emergency stockpile to run out by the end of MAY.

How lovely.

>Buying anything but shell fuel

Get fucked cunt buy mobil

Caltex is usually the best I find.

But if you put 98 octane in your car, any fuel station seems ok

Back when fuel was around $1/L, I used the 95 octane, seemed ok, but now its this stupid price, I'm on standard unleaded.

this would solve the blowout of the fuel price and welfare.

>unemployed?
work for the state owned petroleum refinery, or starve

>no more paying foreign refinery?
shave a few cents off the bp reciept

Nah. Shell's VPower does me well. Previously used caltex. Likely not going back to it. Plus 98 costs as much as caltex unleaded. Think about that.

Good.

good luck on 98 m8

I can't afford it anymore

>We can invest in electric cars
Last I heard you guys are barely able to keep your lights on at home due to an overburdened electrical grid. EV isn't going to help.

All our fuel comes from the same place which is Singapore, it doesn't matter what brand you use.

I make my own petrol with leftover cooking oil. Works fine and is practically free.

>I'm on standard unleaded

You should use E10 it's better than 91 unleaded.

I mean for my lifestyle 60 dollars doesn't hurt. Mabye it does for other people. Probably purely perspective wise.

Literally putting sugercane in your fuel tank

I'll pass. I've used it before and it's absolute shit.
With 95, i get about 700km off a tank, with E10, I barely get 550km

Do you need fuel for your crop collecting tractor Lockyer Valley farmerbro?

Terms of prices and logistics coles express/shell tends to do the job.

You're an idiot E10 is 95 octane and it has no sugar in it.

Yeah that's what it basically comes down to.

why is your country using its emergency fuel reserves, why can't it just buy more oil from oil tankers and refine it?

Something to do with bullshit that's going on in the middle east.

E10 has roughly 4% less energy compared to pure gas so more of it has to be burned. If you own a car that's not designed to take ethanol, it burns way more than 4% extra fuel.

The reason ethanol fuels have higher octane ratings is because they're not as volatile.

Yes you are correct, however the majority of cars here are designed to run on E10, some on E85.

>Why the hell do the oil companies think this is a good idea?

it will make it profitable for more companies to drill and pump, this gives a lot of machine shop work and builds up your industry sector

>Mad Max will become a reality due to shitty economics as various outlaw gangs start to raid fuel trucks requiring the creation of a specialized police force with high speed interceptor and persuit vehicles.
kek, the future has never been brighter.
is life truely imitating art after all?

Same people who cry about prices go out and protest fracking. It makes me want to drive a Van through Melbourne just knowing that 95% of the people I hit will be these greeny scum. Then again I won't because the 5% are actually decent good people.

the mojority of new cars built in the last 5...maybe 10 years.
I use to be a mechanic when ethanol fuel came in and it destroys seals not designed for it long term.

>Australian use high octane gas instead of 87

Why didn't any of you faggot import 10 drums of oil to make a killing?

>the majority of cars here are designed to run on E10, some on E85
True for late model, but unfortunately the lower energy density means more trips to the fuel pumps, and it's oftentimes more expensive to produce the fuel. There's only one country on Earth that has a viable and profitable ethanol fuel infrastructure, and that's Brazil. They produce so much sugarcane that the sheer biomass of sugarcane byproduct makes ethanol fuel much cheaper than conventional gasoline.

>Prices through the roof
>NZ is paying at least 70 cents more a litre.

Look I like you Australians, but you have literally nothing to moan about. NZ has a left wing government that is trying to force people onto bikes and its largest city is getting a 22+ cent tax increase on fuel before July and its already over 2$ a litre for 91

I'm a mechanic too, I've never seen a single car destroyed by ethanol, I have however seen blockages in fuel systems that could be attributed to ethanol due to it being an extremely good solvent, causing old debris to come loose and block shit up.

We have a different octane rating system here.

underrated

the khazar jews in hollywood are just showing you what the khazar jews in basel switzerland have planned for humanity

87? Cunt we haven't had anything less than 91 for over 30 years.

Fuel chemist here: they actually mix them all into the same tankers after testing. That Shell, Mobil, Caltex, BP fuel at the station is a blend made from piping gasoline or diesel from all those refineries. The refinery I work for is so poor at blending gasoline that the giveaway rating is often closer to RON 92 and 96.

You're also a pimple on the arse of the world and deserve to pay more, where as we could be energy independent if we weren't run by a pack of shit cunts.

all of our governments are like that, it was deliberate to put the worst people into government so they can be easily controlled with coins or kids

This.

Could this actually turn into a big problem?

In America we make ethanol from corn.

Well, Mr Frydenberg is in charge of our energy and environment, so yes, I guess the goyim will have to take the burden

aph.gov.au/Senators_and_Members/Parliamentarian?MPID=FKL

I really don't know tbqh, I think there is just a back log in the supply.

Eitherway fuel costs fuck all for me it only costs $25 to fill up my motorbike.

Fuck, we're pumping e10 86 octane into our beaters. I still go 95(ish) for long road trips, but around town I put the 2 dollar shit in and call her good enough.

considering the reserves are less then half they were 2 weeks ago, its a possibility

OP's image says 50 days, other normies sources came out today saying 20 days

dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5697077/Australia-50-days-fuel-left-reserves-experts-warn-worse.html

(it says 50 in the url this an error)

i'm willing to bet the actual reserve is less then what they are saying to prevent a panic

>we make ethanol from corn
Subsidized corn to make it even worse. Farmers don't like it because it doubles the cost of feed, and we have dozens of other crops that can substitute corn to produce ethanol. Ethanol had promise to utilize what we already had but it just made the problem worse. We got less energy in fuel, became more dependent on agricultural gibs, and it costs more money because we grow the fuel instead of recycling agricultural waste to produce it.

Those environmentalist hippies should have seen this coming when they were advocating for it, but they're to busy humping trees and getting triggered to do the math. Day of the (organic, free range, fair trade hemp) Rope when?

Which doesn't make an ethanol producer profit. They squeak by on the sales of ddg and corn oil. Bigger companies like Valero and Louis Dreyfus will be around, but the smaller ethanol plants will be ghost facilities in the next 5 years once corn prices start to go up and mama government won't subsidize them further.

Can you imagine if next week the government says, holy shit, we only got 1 week of fuel left in the country.

The whole place would turn into nigger town, black, white or spic

Who here /nolicence/?

Nothing makes me happier than hearing normies whine about their car issues. Loans, fuel prices, rego, insurance, etc.

Also my legs are disproportionately more jacked than the rest of my body from all of the walking I do, better for stomping car driving cucks.

Let me guess, you're on about 10 types of centrelink payments and don't have a job?

enjoy not having the food turn up to woolies because theres no fuel to power the trucks.

it will literally be a 9 meals scenario

Look at this city dwelling coastal nigger and laugh

Imagine paying 1.5€/L while you make 850 a month hahaha

might fill up all the jerry cans and put some long life fuel saver in them.

Have another go at domesticating the Emu, and ride around on them.

Nope, I live low-cost rural rental and catch the regional train to the city for work.

>his legs are jacked from doing light cardio
your arm must be massive from all the masturbation

>rural
Lives close enough to the city for public transport to and fro, kek

No laddy. The wankers on the board at the refineries will just keep requesting night call outs for full testing until the shortage is replenished. I’ve got your backs.

manchild spotted

hahaha poor cunt

>majority of cars here are designed to run on E10
t. chink tourist

most cars are designed for U91 or higher, only the fresh cars are designed for E10 but still recommended using U91

plus it's not worth getting E10 when it's 1-5 cents difference per litre and a shittier fuel. Almost every time I fill up, E10 is only 1-2 cents cheaper so why even bother?

>prices skyrocketed!
>few cents a litre more
>costs me see stupid RACV/Q shit on news about fuel prices
>dumb cunts spend 20min more driving to a different servo to save nothing

I use 98 for the simple reason I get 200km more out of a tank, long haul driving tho and around town too

t. retard

What car do you drive?

2001 VX commodore S one of the very few v6 5 speeds getting around these days

Not bad but you won't see any difference in using 98 in your car.

I've owned litre bikes for years and every single mechanic i've ever known has told me Shell fuel, particularly 98 clogs injectors and fucks your shit up. I've seen it first hand too.

BP Ultimate/Caltex 98 are the 2 best fuels out there. Mobil used to be good before they were bought by 7/11

Eh says you, but there is a large difference in performance and fuel economy compared to 95

Don't you have any ware house discount stores? In the US we have Costco and Sam's club. They sell gas at around 15-20 cents cheaper per gallon (for premium at least).

They all come from the same place, don't be silly.

You car was designed to run on E10 and 91, you will get no advantage from running 95 or 98. So one of two things are happening, 1 you're lying or 2 you drive differently when using 98.

god bless you fuel bro

I actually drive the car harder persay than what I would using 91 or e10, getting the most out of every gear, so user... am I a liar?

Are high compression engines really this common in Australia or is the higher octane is better for everything meme just really common?

Yes (or it's all in your head) , also you're wasting money buying 98.

We use a different octane rating system here called RON, I believe the U.S uses something called MON, it's all the same basically despite different numbers.

very very few cars actually say it from the manufacturer. just boneheads thinking its giving them 20% range and performance

Fuck I used to live in Laidley, that area is a shithole for fuel prices

I currently work as a fuel mantinance technician. I. Contracted out to some major companies like Shell, BP, Caltex ect. Been doing this for 15 years. Basicaly im the guy who fixes the "out of order" taged stuff.

-BP has by far cleanest fuel and best quality. And give a fuck about it. If we inform them of contamination or high water levels they will rectify it.

-Caltex and Shell 91 and 95 have bacteria in the fuel that eats ferrous metal. Looks like a rusty deposit but it's an organism. Don't put it in your car.

-Shell 98 gums up very bad. Its a sticky kind of residue and causes havock with the presets, sensors and meters in bowsers.

-Caltex 98 does this but not as bad.

-All ethanol blends are extremly clean.

Never fill up if a tanker is unloading either.

-

tell us about diesel in all the companies' bowsers

what does a tanker do?

Most newer cars and motorbikes are rated for 95RON as standard. Turbo cars should take 98 minimum ofc and have their ECU's tuned for 98RON.
I also lol at normies paying extra for 98RON for no reason at all

>I also lol at normies paying extra for 98RON for no reason at all

This, they think 98 will make them go faster and get more km's out of a tank.

This doesn't work. Our country is geographically dispersed as hell. If we lose fuel, we lose trucks, we lose everything. Australia runs on 18 wheels son
Depends on your make of car. I am planning on keeping my ute (05 model) for another 10 years and its already 10 years old. 98 octane only. My engine is expensive as hell to replace or recondition
Hell yes it could. Our whole economy relies on diesel and petrol
It depends on your job whether that's feasible. If you can get away with no car, go nuts. Most of us can't. A 2 hour walk to a train station is bullshit to and from an 8 hour a day job
Read up on your specific car. Not just from the manufacturers spec, do your homework

when they're filling the stations tanks, the flow of the incoming fuel mixes up all the sediment that settled in the storage tank, which then ends up in your vehicles' tank. I'm not the other fuel experts above, but I would say that's the basic gist of it

I'm willing to bet we often dip between having 50-100 days of fuel left and this is all some distraction.

Anything big happening with politics / banking?

Then you have been misinformed. Cheers.

>that feel when you left Australia permanently at the exact moment literally everything starts falling apart.

And everyone I knew was insulting me for "abandoning" a country that they spent every waking second lamenting and hating.

Idiots, all of you.

>i'm going to ignore the SA power grid issues and blackouts because i'm in in SA

Sure, BP as expected has very high quality diesel in my experience.

Caltex is OK. However older sites tend to have alge in the tanks. Its 2 types one orange and another grey. When tank levels are low gets up to the dispenser.

Shell is a bio diesel blend. Ive seen the worst water contiamination on shell sites.

United is utter shit.

7/11 and Costco have same problems as caltex.

A good rule, if the dispenser is pumping slow its because the filters and strainers are blocked. And filling your car with scum.

The truck that delivers fuel...

What is the cause of the shortage?

So I have a volvo 5 cylinder turbo 6spd estate that I usually grandpa drive around because I want to keep it around as long as possible (first car bought outright)

the book says 91 octane but only sunoco sells that though at premium price, so I put in 93 most of time unless I'm at a station that's gouging the price of 93 due to its location, so I put in 89

Is doing this bad long term or is it fine

abbos sniffed it all.

Liberals have wanted a 82% fuel tax levy increase and our gov wont have a bar of it so it's a stalemate

i was on holidays when that happened im still shocked no violence broke out given how long it went on for

Josh Frydenberg

In short, JEWS

>1.95-2.6 BGN for a litre
boohoo

it's always being like this here

cheers answered about the sediment mixing
