By accident, really. I think the first time it really hit me was seeing Eric Dubay's videos awhile back. Took me a few months to unwind the cognitive dissonance and prove it for myself.
Still consider it an awful realization. Always loved NASA/Braun and the 'nauts. Slept under the Saturn V's thrusters at Kennedy Space Center when I was in the Boy Scouts in my teenage years.

Eric Dubay, the most prominent educator on the Flat Earth was terminated from YouTube, and following his termination multiple channels went up immediately ridiculing the idea and "debunking" it. Vsauce and a multitude of other PopSci channels immediately started doing extensive damage control. Late night talk shows started doing opening segments and interviews with celebrities like Neil DeGrasse Tyson ridiculing the idea of Flat Earth.

Don't you know that Camera technology changes and that no camera actually gives an entirely accurate reproduction?
You could have taken all of these pictures with a couple of different modern smartphones, just by changing the sensor and a few settings.

Obviously the Earth is not literally a pancake. The oceans, mountains and landscape in general is not completely flat. What is meant by the Flat Earth is that the shape is much closer to ancient maps and theological descriptions than it is to mainstream science's depiction, which is highly suspect. See pic related for the general idea.

It was understood by many in the ancient and recent past, and today if you are researcher into the occult, that the Earth is a plane and the celestial bodies are spheres. Reasoning can vary, but ultimately the celestial bodies are regarded as beings and tools at the same time. Vehicles, if you will.

The solstices are due to the rhythmic expansion and contraction of the Sun and Moon. Some folks have made models for this, can find them on YouTube.

The Sun moves out of sight on its path in a circuit across the Earth. It seems to disappear or "go beneath the horizon" due to the nature of the horizon, which is a limitation of the visual senses.

Then explain me two things
1. In your planetary model the source of sunlight is described as an orb floating some 40k km above ground wasn’t it?
So for the current night-day cycles and the way sulighit hits earth to make sense, that orb would nescessarily need to have something to cast shadow on it wouldn’t it? Otherwise the orb would shoot light rays in all directions therefore all of the planets surface would be enlightened simoutaneously (daylight in Brazil and japan at the same time, possibly same hour)
That implies that something cast shadow on the orb.
Does it has a massive lightbulb or something? Is it a cosmic flashlight? Like an UFO?
2. Why governments would lie about this tho? I understand liyng about ayys, the jews and divine things but the shape of the planet?
