And why is he the most likeable? Tarantino tells you in the opening scene. Because he "thinks like a Jew." And what do Jews do? Are they not able to sway you to their side by providing an entertaining face to their otherwise bad actions? Is it not intentional that the only bad German in the film is also the most "Jewish"?

I submit to you that Inglorious Basterds is an intentional subversion of stereotypes. Where the characters we're told to believe as "bad" or "good" are only there because of the bias with which we watch the film (Jews/Muricans = good, Germans/Nazis = bad). But in the film itself, the coding is precisely the opposite, where the Americans are the real bad guys and the Germans are really the victims. The only problem is that most people are so entrenched into the Muricans = good, Nazis = bad trope that they're tricked into rooting for the *real* bad guys in the film the whole time, unironically cheering on acts of brutality and violence.

What I saw was a bunch of mindless violence sprinkled in between long, boring scenes where two Quentin Tarantino self-inserts talk about 40s pop culture shit that he happens to enjoy. As someone who had loved everything he did up until that point, I fucking hated this movie when I saw it in the theater. Too much mundane shit for the sake of it cuz it's the Tarantino signature move, an absurd premise, and Brad Pitt and the other Basterds only getting like 5 minutes of screen time just made it intolerable to me.

The character Landa is Austrian, not German tho

I've read some interviews from Tarantino about the movie, and he keeps talking about the propaganda movies. I really thinks he realizes that the power of movies, and how propaganda like the movie he stole his title from is. And I do think he tried to show this through his movie. But I also think that the way the germans came out looking better in is more a consequence of how Tarantino likes to make characters.

No, not at all. It is equating the audience with Nazis. Which is why the film goes back and forth between showing the audience in the theater and simply showing their screen as your screen. "This is the face of Jewish revenge" is a message directed at both audiences.
