Austrians, in fact any German speakers are generally well received here. There's no real impediment to moving to NZ. You just need to have a working skill that is in demand.
It's a comfy country. Has mountains and forests so feels Austrian at times. Just with a beach. And better weather as well of course

One thing that NZders assume is that if you speak German, you are German. I might as well have been born in Berlin for all they care. That takes some getting used to to be given a different national identity and have to explain to people 20 times a week that I am in fact Austrian which has nothing to do with Germany. Still get blank looks.

I think Austria is lost, we never had a big gun culture to begin with and only very permissive gun laws because nobody bothered to ban them so far. They are, castle doctrine is still there, no carrying though (for normal peasants). You need a license for semi autos which is shall issue (unlike in Germany).
