Derna is a city on the northeastern coast of Libya surrounded by Haftar (LNA/HoR/Tobruk gov)-held territories Derna used to be disputed between IS and the MSCD (Mujahideen Shura Council of Derna, a coalition of Islamist militias) The MSCD includes the al-Qaeda linked Abu Salim Martyrs Brigade Since early 2016 the MSCD effectively defeated IS in Derna and since then controls the city. The city has been under LNA siege since early 2015 Many operations have been announced to take the city, of which only a few materialized
Derna militias seem to enjoy Muslim Brotherhood support. Libyan spokesman condemned in early April "Doha and Istanbul backing the terrorists in Derna" UAE and Egypt are backing the LNA/Haftar by doing airstrikes on targets in the city
In early April rumours of upcoming offensive started buzzing. Haftar's chief of staff Major General al-Nadoori then on April 14th issued an order to invade Derna Pictures on social media about LNA equipment being deployed to Derna April 17th saw the appearance of the special forces unit Saiqa Forces in pictures of meeting about Derna operation LNA source is quoted saying 1500 terrorists are in Derna
@LNASpox Apr 30 Marshal Hiftar visits Omar Moktar operation room Sunday morning , met with commanders and checked final arrangements to liberate the city of #Derna
The first LNA gains started appearing in later April Several reported LNA martyrs on the 3rd and 4th of May
Reuters, May 7. #Hafter in #Benghazi: "Zero hour for the liberation of #Derna has struck". May 8: Haftar announces offensive to take #Derna, the only part of the country's east outside his control, from pro-Al-Qa'eda Mujahideen Shura Council. "Peace efforts" over the past three years reached a "stalemate" and now, "the zero hour has struck."
East of the city some gains at first on May 7th but later reports of LNA advance being repelled, MSCD poses on social media pics with a captured Humvee claiming to have killed 7 soldiers Later that day, heavy clashes in Martuba, south east of the city
@smmlibya May 8 LNA ‘Omar al-Moukhtar’ Ops room media office: 5 soldiers killed in clashes with DSCM militants at the al-Fataih and al-Heela axes, south of #Derna city. @BabakTaghvaee May 8 Both #Greece & #Egypt Navy have seized vessels carrying weapons to #Derna from #Turkey but it hasn't stopped process of arming #SCMD terrorists. #Libya National Navy hasn't enough vessels to patrol Libyan waters.
Involved LNA material among others: BM21 Grad, M30 and Gvozdika 122m Howitzers, Ratel 60 IFV, T-62, T-55 airstrikes by armed drones, Libyan MiG-23BN and Egyptian and UAE airforces

The density of the Mutt knows no bounds. Yes, Syria is on a course for an Austerlitz-like defeat:
>Everyone knows that Russia won't do shit about a foreign national invasion in Syria
Russia's presence prevents just this.
>LIterally like how Austria was propped up by Russia and Britain before Austerlitz.
And you called me a retard. This makes no fucking sense whatsoever. A Napoleon is going to lead a gigantic invasion against Syria is he? What are you smoking? Austria was a great power then in its own right; there are no parallels whatsoever between the Syrian situation and the fucking Napoleonic Wars, you stupid cretin.

Major actors atm: Red is Tobruk-based government under Haftar and the Libyan National Army
Green is Misrata/Tripoli-based western-backed rival government, however much of its territories are controlled by disorganised Islamist militias
The city in which the current operation is taking place is in black as its controlled by a seperate Islamist council/militia.

There's only one from the 27th of April, I'd recommend it, it's not too great but there is a part where they park a truck bomb next to an HTS controlled building, pretty nice explosion. Other than that there's a quick clip of Palestinian militiamen getting beheaded.
Adrian Richardson
That's keep happening since Crimea. Russia constantly "getting humiliated", "losing it face", "nobody going to respect Putang anymore", "economical collapse any day now". Ah, and "They are running away from Syria".
>The Pentagon warns against Iran's strategic underground missile system being built in Syria
>* Iranian reactions to Israeli casualties in Syria are likely to be much more severe than we have seen so far, and a massive blow must be taken into account, including the firing of a large number of strategic missiles, combined with the launching of a large number of suicide-bombers into Israeli territory.
It's funny how we almost never hear about Libya in the media. We haven't even got a clue how many people have been killed there. Complete chaos, and they don't mention it because that is what Syria would be like if they succeeded in overthrowing Assad.
A reasonably well-off Arab State, where people lived decent lives, turned into a wasteland governed by warlords.
#Libya : #LNA launched offensive on 8/5/2018 in order to liberated #Derna from #DSC . Since operation started, army have already captured most of the industrial/farms area East of the city.
>be arab >takes soviet tech for free >gets BTFO so badly, that it's not even funny >muh slavshit
*40 years later*
>be arab >buys superiour Western tech for 100500$ per unit (on credit issued by US banks plus oil concession) >gets BTFO even from arabs armed with old-and-rust outdated soviet weapons >muh monkeymodel
How did they even manage to build an Arabian empire?
Indeed, they keep being made to "look weak" and yet they keep winning and foiling NATO aims.
Leave it to Americans to mistake surface appearances for reality, and mistake PR and bluster and missile shows for achieving actual strategic objectives. The only success NATO powers have had is getting the Kurds to control part of the country, and Russia has made this a big problem for them by sanctioning a Turkish invasion in the North (either let the Kurds get BTFOd or lose their strategically most important NATO ally, with the biggest military)

>Peskov; The refusal to supply S-300 system to Syria is not linked with Bibi's visit to Moscow Then its about what? It should have been delivered now more than ever!
That's Israeli propaganda dude. All it demonstrates is that the real purpose of all these provocations is to goad Iran into what will be portrayed throughout the world as annudah Shoah.
so i was sceptical about the Douma chemical attack, but the amount of fuckery going on here is INCREDIBLE. Let me share just a few things.
So first, let's talk about the gas canister that was responsible for the gassing. First, the attack on around april 7. This jihadi discovered the "canister responsible for the attack" a day later. (pic related).
Only.. This is a completely different house to where the actual attack took place.. So what the fuck is going on here?
Iran's problem in Syria with Israel is fundamentally one of mismatched capacities.
The Israelis have a terrain advantage; not only that but they have no interest in territorial conquest, which means they won't budge from their positions on the Golan Heights to get down and dirty with their enemy in Deraa/Damascus. Combined with them being forced onto the defensive in the air, because the SAA has, practically speaking, almost no air force left, and what is there is laughable, and the Iranians have never deployed their own to Syria because it too is laughable, southern Syria is at the constant mercy of Israel - proving precisely why the Golan Heights are so critical to possess.
That lack of an air force also means Iran can't strike back at Israel in kind - its only options are a ground attack (good luck, lol) or a missile attack, which would be massively hampered by Israel's top-tier missile defence systems.
Israel can strike with impunity at Iranian targets in southern Syria because it holds all the cards, and the only thing that will ever stop it is if Iran basically withdraws out of range, ceding the ground to Israel. I doubt that will happen, so I honestly don't know what will happen. Iran and co may have to resort to ground attack at some point because it's simply the only feasible retaliatory option they have. Such a strike would preferably be conducted from Lebanon, not Syria, since the Golan is just a giant killzone.

Duh, Tupolev is God, and Kuznetsov is His prophet.
Homs, Syria – Thousands of people from Palmyra city have started returning to their city on Friday to inspect their houses to come back permanently.
Member of Homs Governorate Council, Mohammad Awad al-Hamad, said that during the past three months, the Governorate contacted the locals of Palmyra who had left the city and encouraged them to return to their homes after maintenance teams finished rehabilitating water, electricity, and sewage systems, along with other services facilities, that had been damaged by Daesh (ISIS) terrorists.
Director of the General Establishment of Water, Hasan Hmaydan, said that water sources from wells are ready and currently working on diesel generators, while more water is provided by tankers, and the water network has been tested and it is 80% ready.
Some of the returning locals told SANA that they will come back to their homes after the rehabilitation of service facilities is completed.
>16 min what is with with arabs and smoking in tanks?
Thomas Wright
Then, one day later, two days after the attack, the white helmets actually bothered to look in the roof of the building where the attack actually took place.
Question, why did they first go around and look for canisters in different buildings that had no relation to the attack, and one day later, somehow miraculously found a fucking canister on the TOP OF THE BUILDING. Why didint they bother to check it earlier?
Also, how the fuck could that canister punch such a huge hole through concrete and pull ruble all over, it had no explosives right?
and then there's another, (later image) of the canister that apparently had the gas. Only, that it seems to be completely different from the first one, the holy is bigger, and the canister is in a slightly different position. What the fuck are the white helmets doing?
>American-backed paramilitaries battling the Islamic State terror group in Syria came under attack by an “unknown aggressor” Friday, a day after Israeli forces launched a massive attack against pro-regime forces in the country.
>“The hostile force engaged the SDF with artillery, and the SDF responded in self-defense, resulting in the destruction of one artillery piece,” officials from Operation Inherent Resolve said in a statement Friday. Command officials did not identify who was responsible for Friday’s skirmish, but did note U.S. commanders did reach out to their Russian counterparts “via ground and air deconfliction lines.”
also do you have a map on Yemen and Afghanistan too?

# URGENT Saudi air defense announces intercept of ballistic missile launched towards Jazan
Christopher Young
No, evidently you are.
Granted, it's threadbare. All you have to do is crack the Golan/West Bank crust and Israel is a very thin, very flat, very low, very easy target. Which is why they've made that rocky crust such a fortress.
Cooper Fisher
And then there's this retarded crazy bullshit. For some inunderstandable reason, instead of you know, rushing the bodies to the hospital or whatever, the white helmets kept rearranging the bodies in different positions, different floors.
And now, she has foam coming out of her mouth and eye? How the fuck did this happen? If i recall, you're supposed to foam from a chemical attack when you are dying, not while the white helmets rearrange your bodies for photos.
the only meaningful difference is air power, your whole self important larp could be one sentence.
Austin Watson
he probably means their use of the beqaa valley as radar shadow for every single attack and strike the west and Israel have done on Syria, since Lebanese airspace cant be defended by lebanon at all.
no it's to bait iran into a conflict. that's not rocket science

What happens when one of these bad boys actually hits? Say in the middle of Riyadh?
How much firepower do the Houthi missiles pack?
Mason Scott
Are Alawites descendants of Byzantines?
Nathan Stewart
When you look at it, the amount of times the bodies were rearranged for photos is quite a lot. Which is really questionable, why did the white helmets do this?
Landon Baker
>he probably means their use of the beqaa valley as radar shadow for every single attack Admirable defense, but that only matters if you have total air superiority which is the relevant factor, not the presence of some mountains.
If so, let's remove the Israeli air force from the equation. In what universe would a ground attack on the Golan actually succeed? Because it wouldn't.
Luis Thomas
>What happens when one of these bad boys actually hits? The Saudi Patriot missiles hit the targets for them.
it succeeded in 1973 before the Egyptian treachery, even WITH the israeli airforce. Now imagine if Egyptians weren't in the running for worst military in the world.
Connor Stewart
Obviously the one Israel actually has. There's little point in speculating how the US or China could take the Golan.

They're Arab. Bring white is about being European. They're not European and they don't share degenerate European "values" like fistfucking orgies at college. They have arab values and are proud to be Arab, rather than a degenerate European

TEHRAN- So far bodies of 14 Iranian officers killed in Israeli attacks on Iranian bases in Syria have arrived. They will be buried quietly in their native towns. Unlike previous occasions this time there will be no pomp and ceremony. Media ordered to hush-up the whole thing.
