Personal ownership of motor vehicles is not only cultural but also economic. If car manufacturers and used car dealers suddenly lost 1/4th of their business it'd be a shitstorm. The primary issue with the United States is stagnation resulting in fear of change.

Whites are the ones paying for it and they don't want to have to deal with niggers and spics on the daily. This goes double in liberal areas where the shitskins are given free reign to act as obnoxious as imaginable. Also the spread out cities makes it less practical. Cities in NA are far more spread out than Europe or Asia which just makes cares more efficient in comparison.

One reason is how ungodly expensive it would be. The amount of wasted money to build anything in this country is absurd. Every politician would make a buck, every part would cost multiple times what it should, studies on impact of some stream or patch of land would take years and cost millions. It's not as simple as just throwing up rail, you'd see more crooks lining their pocket than the arms industry during war.

The problem with American infrastructure is this:

Our roads are free and subsidized, and our nation went through puberty while this was true. So our cities never settled into more natural compact footprints, but instead expanded and expanded.

When you artificially raise the supply of roads, demand always rises to meet supply. We never stop building free subsidized roads, and demand for those roads will never stop rising until we introduce rational road pricing.

If roads were more expensive and privately owned, you'd see mass transit produced by the private sector. Find a flaw.

(Roads that are subsidized and overproduced beyond what's economically rational are the ultimate reason that utility companies have a hard time keeping up. If everything were closer together, utility companies would be in closer competition.)

I live 15 mins from nearest village that is 15 mins from nearest city that is only 700k people. They have a huge bus system under written 90% by taxes. I own 8 cars, 2 boats, 3 jet skis, 3 motorcycles, and 3 snowmobiles. Why the fuck would i vote for more mass transit?

This is particularly noticeable in west coast cities, where large highways tend to separate the ghetto from respectable parts of town, forming a literal wall against people who don't have cars.
