Literally every single project they've raised a tax for has gone wildly over budget and finished behind schedule and accomplished none of its goals. The main reason Amazon objects to the tax is because they believed the council was "too incompetent to do anything useful with the money" to quote one of their execs. The mayor himself said that if they do this tax and damage relationships with Amazon and other big companies and then their plan for the money achieves absolutely nothing, they will have destroyed all credibility for themselves.
