I've lived in the UK and the US, and my family is from both places.

The UK has better things in terms of like, pub culture, allotments, the seaside, the history all over (castles and monasteries and roman ruins), and in some ways things are a bit more cosmopolitan. Chavs are really bad and I feel less safe in most places in the UK in general than the US, weirdly enough. Drunk british people just tend to be extroverted and confrontational. Americans who do that shit live in ghettos you'd never end up in.

The US does have a more continental culture, if that makes sense. Australia is similar. But people here are a bit more annoying, though in the UK people love to fucking pontificate. In the US, that exists as SJW culture and some democrats do it... but in the UK, its like gospel and structured your political beliefs. The party is Orwellian. Did I mention the police state there? It's suffocating. Even speeding is computer monitored.

America has more beautiful nature (out west) and some really cozy mountain towns. Some English villages are really cozy, too. It's just the culture there is a lot more collective and, again, suffocating

The metropolitan areas are certainly awful. Medium sized rural towns near me are nice though. The people are friendly and there is low crime. Mind you there is steady employment through a staple industry and the racial makeup is rather homogeneous.

I'd say most Europeans get more in return per tax dollar/euro than Americans as your governments are definitely more efficient, but we pay less in general so it effects us less. You live in something closer to a police state while we live something closer to an oligarchy (you're fucked by government a ton and business a little, vise versa for americans). Like most others in this thread even though American crime statistics are higher I feel safer in America than in Europe since our crime is entirely localized around ghettos that are extremely easy to avoid. Most of the time the ghettos are located in areas harder to get to/not as well designed road wise. That being said if you make a wrong turn in any major American city you can have a 90%+ chance of being robbed/killed/raped but everywhere else is near 0%, while in Britain you are at a constant 15% chance no matter where you are.
The worst thing about America right now is healthcare but when that oligarchical titan falls its going to cause a serious look at our Bill of Rights and things it doesn't include. The world is going to be very mad at the US when they discover our large pharmaceutical companies have been holding the cures for the treatment diseases, such as herpes, certain cancers, leukemia, aids, etc. but haven't been releasing them since keeping millions of people subscribed to their treatments.
