Come on Pajeets and Lungibros, let's get a Karnataka election thread going, seeing as they're counting the votes as we speak.
This is probably the last major BJP-congress battle before the national elections, so the result will tell if the Modi wave has faded, or is still in full force.
I expected the Congress to have an easy win this time, seeing their Lingayat vote split, Kannada flag drama and high muslim population, but it looks like BJP is leading so far. JD(S) is also doing far better than expected. Do you think BJP will cross the 112 mark, or will a JD(S) alliance decide the victor?
Also, general discussions on Karnataka, or India in general, politics allowed.
Karnataka Election Thread
I don't have a clue on poo politics and would like a quick rundown, if you would.
Did the commies and slimes lose?
My knowledge of Indian politics is somewhat dated. So, Karnataka... still ruled by the Rashtrakutras?
BJP aint gonna get a majority. Cong + JD(S) will form the government
how can we be sure that Karnataka is even real and not a deepstate psyop?
fine, ask any question and i'll answer it to the best of my knowledge
basically, politics here is different from that in other democratic countries. though we have a few parties who have an ideology( alt right, ancap, communist) the majority don't have any actual ideology. or rather, more important than ideology is their voter base. each party has certain communal, social, religious etc groups who'll blindly vote for it. there is less of this in urban educated areas, and among the majority population, but each of the numerous minority communities have their own favourite parties to back, and most elections just depend on the alliances between these parties, and the splitting of opponent vote banks and consolidation of your own.
the big national parties are the alt-right BJP( curently in power in the centre, as well as in 22 of the 29 states, though it wasn't so 5 years back) and the left wing INC, who have the backing of the muslims and dalits, in addition to most of the powerful contacts, being the oldest political party( led the freedom struggle, ruled india for its first 40 years).
in addition, there's the Marxist-Leninist CPI(M), the ancap AAP, and a few others.
regional politics is usually seperate from national politics, as each state has its own parliament that people vote into, in addition to the national parliament, and each state's internal politics is different
Interesting. So who are /ourguys/?
yeah, that was last millenium. since then we've had the Hoysalas, the VIjayanagara empire, the kngdom of Mysore, the sultanate of mysore, and now, the state of karnataka
presently, the left wing, pro muslim and dalit, INC is ruling here, one of the only 3 states left in their hand after the giant BJP wave a fedw years ago.
depends.
/OURguys/ are definitely the BJP, Nationalistic, right wing, majoritarian, India-first, etc.
Global policy wise, Modi( PM, in BJP) is favouring alliance with USA, though we were traditionally with the USSR, and he's one of the few world leaders Trump has been positive about.
the "redpilled, whites are good, indians are destroying india", self described "progressive, secular, feminist, etc" pajeets are the AAP fanbase, though they probably vote for Congress since AAP is not exactly a succesful party.
so if your version of the redpilled pajeet has the same characteristics of the redpilled white guy, it would be BJP, but if you consider the redpill for brown people to be self-hating then it's the Congress/AAP
>the alt-right BJP( curently in power in the centre, as well as in 22 of the 29 states
you mean 20 states?
seems to be so. Modi and Shah were sucking Deve Gowda's cock to make an alliance between BJP and JDS, but apparantly congress is having serious taljks with JD(S) right now.
it would make sense since BJP doesn't really "need" karnataka, as they already have enough power, whereas congress is more desperate, so JD(S) will have more leverage and get a better deal from the Congress.
there's also the possibility that congress will come out as the single largest party though, in which case they won't need JDS, who'll make a deal with BJP to gain some power at least.
i guess the winner will be whoever gets lesser votes then, assuming neither crosses the 112 mark. it's too head-to-head now to be sure
yeah, my bad
still a huge wave though
thankfully, no commies in our state
yet
the slimes are projected to win, though it looks like we're winning so far
I'm conflicted desu, on one hand I support BJP but they brought in all these corrupt mining barons and Yeddy back.
Lol OpIndia, you're definitely an NRI. That site has gone off the deep end in trying to protect Modi, it's worse than Fox News at this point
only problem with BJP for me, is the fact that they still retain a very liberal approach in some shit. I mean our current DefMin is a fucking woman. I know they are modeled after NatSoc, but still i don't like the soc part
>I expected the Congress to have an easy win this time,
lol
we won
faggots like NDTV were giving estimates like
INC- 110
BJP- 85
JDS-25
a couple of days back
just shows that the liberal media will even post blatant lies to keep their narrative going
yeah, i hate the fact that karnataka has no good, charismatic leader. it's all politicians who've made millions in business or industry, usually unethically. Congress has corrupt politicians too, and BJP didn't have many good guys to choose from. the need Yeddy for the fuckin Lingayats, because niddaramayya tried to pull off that seperate religion shit.
obvious AAPtard pretending to be a BJP supporter to tarnish our image. go back to r*ddit for that
YEY nigga. break out the Old Monk, let's partay
