Hitler should never have opened the war on two fronts. He got overconfident and underestimated the Russians who had just signed a ten year non agression pact and agreed to the mutual division of Poland. He should have destroyed the British(the french were already beat) before the Americans were forced into the war by the Japs. Then the outcome would have been very different.

The Soviet Union had a population nearly double that of Germany’s, far more room for economic development, nearly endless resources (besides rubber), and development of advanced military technologies. Within a few years, the Soviets could easily surpass Germany in every way, Hitler wanted to win this inevitable war while the Soviets were still down.

By 44-45, the war was already lost for the germans. The course of the war was decided in 42-43. Dont mean to disagree with you but Bagration and Seelowe heights offensives were just knocking down a worn out enemy who is out of stamina.

Also the multiple bombings of German cities by the British RAF delivered a huge blow not only to the civilians, but also to Germany's economy and industry.

Also the bombings were not that effective by themselves, their real benefit was wiping out the Luftwaffe thanks to the P-51 Mustang. Americans were afraid to engage in a war without total dominion over the skies.

Basically, too much wishful thinking, and Hitler actually was probably one of the least retarded people in German high command, as he was rather quick to realize that his generals were full of shit and that Wehrmacht is actually unknowingly fighting a war of attrition.
The amount of mistakes they made is actually mind-boggling given the fact that their officers were very professional in the areas in which they didn't completely shit the bed. Pride and overconfidence was their hubris I guess.
