If I had to put my money on it though I would guess that light eyes are "piggybacking" on genes that cause depigmentation. Light eyes may simply be a by-product of the necessity for fair skin. It would also make sense then that light eyes are a recent mutation as Europeans lived at a much lower latitude during the last ice age. Thoughts?
