Used to be a big Friedman fanboy, but I realized his shortcomings when exposed to critiques of pure ideological adherence.

I think what people should take away from him is his ability to clearly explain why markets are a necessary component to a functional society. At the same time, materialistic attainment should not be the mechanism around which civilization is organized.

Friedman seems to me a textbook case of a good man who as a result of his identity as a rootless Jew advocated for systems that undermined Western nations.
