it's because a lot of people think a small amount of general dissatisfaction (i.e. what everyone feels regularly) is bad and evidence of crippling depression, so they go to the shrink for feels and validation easy way for psychiatry jews to make money

I was made to see a therapist for depression for 4 years, and was cycled between 3 SSRIs in that time. Going to the gym, starting running, and meditating regularly did more for me in a few months than those meds did in years. Maybe it does help some people, but they definitely overdiagnose as a scam to sell more medication.
