College not worth it many times?
You either get some fluff major and gain no applicable skill or you major in something hard and the only reward is a stressful job assuming no underemployment.
Some anecdotes.. my sibling majored in env science. Had to take hard classes such as organic chemistry. Underemployed. Graduated at 23. Had minimum wage jobs up until age 26. Now works for a uc school as a dispatcher making 19 am hr and caps at 30 after many many many yrs.
Says she kind of regrets it. 30k in debt
Other friends majored in bio, psychology, and some other one. Same story. One works with my sister. Higher position. The bio major works taking care of kids with disabilities in a school. Basically minimum wage.
Now... the only success story from people she knows.. (I don't talk to the people I knew in hs).
One majored in accounting. Straight A student. Had like a 3.9 overall gpa. One internship (MAYBE more). Graduated at 26 because they were doing engineering at 1st. Was making 12 an hr full time in a law firm up until age 26. Then she started making 80k working a gov job. Graduated with no debt too.
Good.... the problem? They hate it because of the hrs and micro management. Says they work doctor hrs. Basically 80 hrs a week!! No work life balance.
All that effort just for a soul draining job....
Fuck. So you either are underemployed and you get cucked or not underemployed but your employers suck your soul.
That's what college gets you for the majority??
You sacrifice so much, give the jews all the money they want, study a shit ton and sacrifice your personal life.... all for THIS?
What the FUCK
I think I will stick with a 2 yr associates in electrical. Just going to try to find a union. I actually know of one I would like. Almost got in. 60k with benefits... but the greatest part that isn't emphasized enough?
It is CHILL. Low stress. Good culture. No micro management.
Now... not all of them are like that. Gotta be lucky. Just feels more common
