It isn't just geneder studies and American history. It's for people who don't think they should have to pay 25k a semester to take prerequisites for your degree.

That's similar to the French system then, where the first 2 or 3 years are done for free in the actual University, then you get an actually valuable degree from a School of Engineering or Business School with American-style high prices.

Community college is already basically free. If you are in district your tuition is very low and you can use the hope and lifetime learning credits on your federal income tax which is several thousand dollars for two tax years. It’s enough to pay for community college and some of the books and you when you sell the books you get that back too. Especially if you sell them on amazon and not the bookstore.

Pell and yes there is that too. But the credits I was referring to are not financial aid, they’re federal income tax credits that first time college students are eligible for. It’s more than enough to pay for a 2-year community college degree so long as you’re credit hour cost is the in district (aka you go to your local community college).

I tell this to everybody who complains that college should be free. They want to go to some state university with room and board and have it all be free though. Fuck them im not paying for that

Agreed, and it’s absurd to argue this. You can even follow an outline from the start if you want to go to a certain 4 year school and it will be made up of everything that transfers over. People don’t do this because they’d rather party and get alcohol poisoning thousands of miles away from mom and dad but on their dime. You can still do that if you wait two years and you’ll save a tremendous amount of money.
