It does have that flavor. His face and name are already out there. Hiding behind an umbrella doesn't help anything. It just makes him look worse, like an admission of guilt. But at the same time, if real, it gives a sense of the threat people feel they are under if they violate PCism. So it seems to support both sides: (1) how guilty he is, and (2) how dangerous it is to voice unpopular opinions. I find it hard to come up with a definitive read on it.
