Jesus was a practicing jew. But he was also the Son of God and the new covenant. Thus, his followers are called Christians and not jews. The jews denied that He was the messiah. The term "Christian" came long ago after Jesus' death. There were no "Christians" for the entire duration of Jesus' whole life. So no, he wasn't a Christian, but definitely was a jew (at least ethnically speaking).
