I've never smoked weed in my life, but I'd argue that if I had to choose between alcohol/tobacco being legal or weed, I'd say weed. Tobacco is at least as bad for your lungs, and alcohol destroys your liver and contributed massively to vehicular casualties.

Alcohol should be illegal too, but now that it is completely legal it became a colossal market and now because too many people drink alcohol nobody can really do anything about it.

Driving is a problem in the USA- it is a leading cause of deaths in general and of course THE leading cause of accidental deaths. Cars are deadlier than guns, even though there are more guns per person than cars. My proposition is to make it harder for the average person (i.e. retards and the disabled) to drive. And to enforce stricter punishments for breaking driving laws. A zero tolerance for alcohol or drugs of any kind would cut down on both traffic violations and drug abuse in the long run, without hurting anybody.

The government has no say in what substances a person consumes, but it can have a say in what is allowed on public roads.
