A lot of the older distribution lines around me are copper. They's all green n shiet. I don't know how widespread aluminum is; only that it's been tried based on possible cost and weight savings of the time.

Some of the older houses here have mixed copper and aluminum wiring, and of course back then they didn't necessarily expect the resulting galvanic corrosion the better part of a century later.
