Altering the footage would be extremely obvious when an entire chubk of a continuous segment of footage is missing and extremely suspicious, that's what.

We have these things called frame-rates and forensics so by making false accusations that the police "editied" the videos all you are doing is getting yourself in deeper shit. These cops CAN'T edit the videos because they are easy to audit. Any cop who IS dumb enough to edit a video is going to get caught and charged by the FBI and deserves to be fired anyway for being stupid, but that's going to be a rare exception to the rule.
