Because it's how the US controls the EU and NATO, they've offered everyone a downgraded 'monkey-model' of their shiny new F-35s. Each export model is probably fitted with surveillance software to spy on allies, and maybe even a kill-switch as a last resort to prevent technology theft and to keep the foreign customers in line. The US have their own F-35's which have better computers/sensors, and a much lower RCS (better stealth) due to the use of classified stealth-enabling materials and technology which is too valuable to export to other nations. Also, the F-22 which is barred from being exported as well, has better performance and stealth than the F-35 despite being in service over 15 years now.

ICBMs have a long ass travel time and are meant to destroy enemy bases,silos,bunkers,infrastructure . if you wanna hit an enemy tank convoy you usually put it on a cruise missile on a plane .

You have to understand there are different radar systems with different wave length capabilities that might limit your capabilities as a fighter. Not to mention advanced jamming capabilities being employed like the EA-18G Growler. They are more likely to develop a work around in a war situation as stealth fighters are flexible in terms of utilizing their advantages than a 4th generation fighter. You have to have the apparatus to make all the pieces work.

Additionally, there's nothing impressive about the plane. It's very meh, not that fast, not that invisible on radar, takes more fuel, same payload as F16, more maintenance hours than F16. It's not the plane that makes shit happen though, it's the payload. The only thing I cannot say for certain is how good the radar is in it. It had better be better than the F15 or we really got fucked.

Combine this with the still unmatched to this day range of the thing and you have a recipe for a massacre. By the end of the conflict the IRAF could jut chase the Iraqi fighters away by painting them with their radar.

The radar is supposed to be pretty good. The real trick in the F-35 avionics is the distributed aperture system and sensor fusion where it integrates the radar, datalink information, and video from the cameras all over the plane into a comprehensive analysis of the battlespace around it. Too bad the chassis itself is kind of a dog.

In a total war scenario you would use small smart munitions to take out all of the civilian emitters that the system depends on. There's also nothing stopping you from jamming the frequencies it uses once you know the system exists.

This is also really only good for an early warning radar, you can't use it to target a SAM or AAM so you still have to send an interceptor who will get whacked before he sees the enemy on his own instruments. I guess you could vector him in to attempt to close from behind for a dogfight.
