These cheaper goods made in foreign lands take money out of the local economies and put it elsewhere. This means the local communities aren't being invested in to the extent that they were before. Do you think the people living in the hollowed-out shells of the old industrial cities in the American Midwest are thankful that their goods are cheaper? If we outsource all manufacturing jobs to China, the economy will be more efficient, the GDP will go up, stocks will go up, the rich capitalists who own everything will get richer, and stuff will be available cheaper. The trade off is that the majority of people will have worse lives because they'll have less economic opportunity available to them. Rather than dad working a 9 to 5 at a factory, mom and dad have to be servers at a restaurant while Wang Li and his friends slave away in an unregulated factory in China for 16 hours a day to replace dad. But hey, 5% more ROI for a select few billionaires.
