I had my doubts. Seriously. I did not get DTs thankfully. I did have issues with profuse sweating, inability to concentrate or sleep well and shitting fluids. Alcohol is certainly one of the worst drugs for people like me. I did get involved with a 12 step program, which was and still is a HUGE help in coping with some of the facts. One of the big issues was that I drank to cope or drank because I had a good day. There was no middle ground. I still learn that life happens. Life on life's terms is hard enough without booze. I appreciate the small things more because I honestly feel that my life was saved because I did a few simple things....Not drinking today is a big part of it. I also grasp that this is not a problem most people have. Most people don't grasp people like me. It is what it is. "Just drink less" was not at all helpful advice.
