The best translation is easily The 2005 Revised Standard Catholic Version (Oxford press Edition) although they are out of print and expensive. Second The Jerusalem Bible (NOT the New Jerusalem!)

The Vulgate is my favorite. The best, for the high art and scope of the translation, is the 14th century Wycliffe's bible, later lifted without attribution to constitute 70% of the King James bible. 95% of Genesis and the poetry of it are his.
