Unhappy people are the ones who does these shootings, there are two solutions

Either you remove the guns but that wont make the unhappy people happy, instead they will probably do something else, probably suicide, some might still do it via black market guns. This isn’t the humane solution in my opinion as it does’t solve issue at heart but the overall deaths will decrease statistically.

Or you put money into making the people who are unhappy, happy. I’m not suggesting rehab because those are only a solution to a problem that has already occured.
