The problem with Australia is that their system is broken and that doesn't happen, it soudns nice in theory but in actuality a lot of migrants experience "downgrading" of jobs. So you get chinese with PhD's working in blue collar sectors, these workers then end up competing with low skill Australian natives and has similar negative effects.

All in all high skill immigration is much more preferable than low skill immigration, and the negative effects of high skill immigration are lower than that of low skill immigration. I just think that high skill immigration should be *really* high skill, like Einstein tier. It'd be much more beneficial than regular high skill immigration, and the amount of immigrants would be smaller too.

Well, it might be points based but with very high qualifications, but the best example I can give is of ex-soviet scientists who immigrated to the U.S. in the 90's. They were extremely intelligent and boosted innovation and growth much more than any regular immigrant would have.
